Satsuki Park Pool is an outdoor pool in Satsuki Park, Izumizaki Village, Fukushima Prefecture. In 2026 it's open from Saturday, July 18 to Monday, August 24, with a two-session changeover system: Session 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:25 a.m., and Session 2 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:55 p.m. The facilities are surprisingly well-equipped for a village-run pool, with four types of pools: an 8-lane 50-meter pool, a 6-lane 25-meter pool, a children's pool, and a toddlers' pool. The 8-lane 50-meter pool offers the exhilaration of swimming long, straight laps, while the 25-meter pool is just the right distance for practicing your stroke. With separate children's and toddlers' pools, even little ones can play at a depth suited to them. Admission is 200 yen for adults, 50 yen for elementary and middle school students, and free for young children, remarkably affordable given the facilities.

Tips

Because of the changeover system, you can only use the pool during the session you choose. Session 2 starts at 1:30 p.m., so arriving a little early to allow for check-in time avoids wasting any of it. Check Izumizaki Village's official website in advance for fees and same-day operating status. Swim caps are generally required at public pools. The 50-meter and 25-meter pools have some depth, so children who can't swim should use the children's or toddlers' pool. Shade is limited, so prepare a rash guard and sunscreen.

Best time to visit

Use the full 2 hours 25 minutes of Session 2, starting at 1:30 p.m. This is a comfortable stretch as the sunlight begins to soften.
