This city-run zoo sits on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You can meet about 100 species of animals, including elephants, giraffes, and chimpanzees, and the popular feeding experience is a big hit with kids. From the high points in the zoo you can even see the ocean, and being able to enjoy animals and stunning views at the same time is a charm unique to Hitachi.
Tips
The feeding experience is limited in number, so check the time and location as soon as you enter the zoo. There are a lot of slopes inside, so a baby carrier can make it easier to get around with small children.
Best time to visit
Stay 2 to 3 hours. The animals are more active in the morning.
