About this spot

A Ministry of the Environment facility located at Sao-zaki in Kamiagata-cho, at Tsushima's northwestern tip. It is dedicated to the conservation of the Tsushima leopard cat, a nationally designated natural monument and endangered species, along with public awareness activities. Inside, you can learn about Tsushima's nature and the unique creatures that live there, and you may also be able to observe leopard cats in the facility's care. The idea that the island of Tsushima, sitting between the continent and the Japanese archipelago, has nurtured a unique ecosystem is a continuous source of discovery for both children and adults. Learn about the value of this island's nature before heading to the pool.

Tips

It's about a 20-minute drive from Kamiagata General Sports Park. Check the official information for opening days and hours. Admission is free. Whether the leopard cats are on view varies by day, so it's a good idea to let children know in advance that meeting one isn't guaranteed, so they won't be disappointed on the day. The surrounding roads are mountain roads, so drive carefully.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 20 minutes. The morning, right after opening, is a calm time to visit.
