Michi-no-Eki Kisogawa Genryu no Sato Kisomura (道の駅 木曽川源流の里きそむら)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A roadside station (michi-no-eki) in Kiso Village, serving as the gateway to the village at the source of the Kiso River, just as its name suggests. The market stocks vegetables grown on the highlands, mountain produce, and local processed goods, offering a selection unique to this high-elevation area. Kiso Village is also known as the home of the traditional wooden comb called Oroku-gushi, and you may spot related items here. There's also a place to eat, making it convenient for a morning bite or picking up snacks for the pool. Taking a break here partway through the mountain drive makes the rest of the journey easier. It's the first place to feel the mountain air of Kiso.

Tips

Opening hours and closed days can vary by season, so it's worth checking ahead of time to be sure. There are few shops in the surrounding area, so it's reassuring to stock up on any drinks or food you need here. The mountain roads continue for a while, so allow plenty of time for driving.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. Selection is at its best in the morning right after opening.
