The 'Soppu-gawa Yamada Waterside Park River Pool' is a river pool in Yamada Waterside Park on the Soppu River in Miyaki Town, Miyaki District, Saga Prefecture, drawing water directly from the river's flow. In 2026 it is open from Saturday, July 18 through Monday, August 31, from 9:00 to 17:00. Water flowing down from the Sefuri mountain range stays cold even at the height of summer, feeling like a natural cold bath that's most welcome on the hottest days. Shallow pools about knee-deep are set aside for young children, so little ones can stand on their own feet and play in the water. With shaded areas along the riverbank, adults can spread out a picnic sheet and watch over kids while staying cool. Admission is free, and free parking is available.

Tips

There is no on-site attendant and use is at your own risk. Guardians must always accompany children and keep a close eye on them. There is no shop, so bring your own drinks and snacks. Since this is a natural river, water volume and turbidity increase after rain. Check the previous day's rainfall and upstream weather, and avoid entering the water if it has risen. Marine shoes that won't slip off are reassuring protection against injury from rocks on the riverbed. Please take all trash home with you.

Best time to visit

Entering the water from around 14:00 means the sun is still out and the water has warmed up, letting you play plenty until closing at 17:00.
