About this spot

Spread across a mountain slope in Kaminaguri, Hanno, this is Naguri's leading spot for worship. Its symbol is the white Kyusei Daikannon standing near the mountaintop, visible clearly even from a distance. The grounds are spacious, with highlights like the Gyokuka-mon Gate and the Peace Memorial Tower scattered throughout, and it's a pleasant place just to walk among the trees. From the high ground you get a sweeping view of the Naguri valley and mountain ranges, taking in the Naguri River basin you'll head to next.

Tips

The paths on the mountain have continuous slopes and curves, so if you have small children, it's best not to overdo it and just visit the main buildings. A voluntary donation is required to visit. It's easier to walk during the cooler morning hours.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. Mornings, before the sun gets strong, are the most comfortable.
