Arima Dam (有間ダム)

Flow of the course

About this spot

This artificial lake was created by the Arima Dam on the upper Naguri River and is affectionately known locally as Lake Naguri (名栗湖). You can walk across the top of the rockfill dam, enjoying an open view with the lake on one side and the Naguri valley spreading out on the other. There's a promenade along the lakeshore, and walking in the shade lets a cool breeze pass through even in summer. It's a good spot for a quiet break to enjoy the scenery before you go river playing.

Tips

The parking lot has limited spaces, so arriving early is reassuring on summer weekends. Some parts of the lakeshore have no fence, so hold your children's hands while walking. There's no shop, so bring drinks with you in advance.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. Mornings, when the breeze across the lake feels pleasant, are recommended.
