Aruka Shrine (有鹿神社)

Flow of the course

About this spot

Listed in the Engishiki register of shrines, this is one of the oldest shrines in Sagami Province. Its main sanctuary sits in Kamigo, Ebina City, where the Hato River flows into the Sagami River. Large zelkova, hackberry, and ginkgo trees tower over the sacred grove, Aruka no Mori (有鹿の森), on the north side of the grounds, which is wrapped in the deep colors typical of a guardian forest during the autumn foliage season. It's about a 15-minute walk from Ebina Station, and can be enjoyed together with a stroll along the riverside.
