About this spot
Located on the northern shore of Lake Ashi (芦ノ湖), Kojiri (湖尻) is a hub for sightseeing in Hakone, home to the departure stations for the Hakone sightseeing boats and the Hakone Ropeway. The leaves are typically at their best from early to mid November. The main highlight is the contrast between the sparkling blue surface of Lake Ashi and the autumn colors spreading from the shore up the hillside. The tourist association recommends exploring the lakeshore on foot or by bicycle during the foliage season; the flat lakeside path is easy to walk even with children, and resting on a bench while gazing at the lake makes for a pleasant break.
