Kuji Cylindrical Water Divider (久地円筒分水)
Flow of the course
About this spot
Located in Kuji, Takatsu Ward, Kawasaki City, this water-dividing facility was completed in 1941 and is registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property. It uses the circumference ratio of its cylinder to precisely divide water from the Nikaryo Canal, sourced from the Tama River, into four channels, a system that served as a model nationwide when it was completed. Watching the water well up from the center and flow out in all directions never gets old. The surrounding area is maintained as a plaza and is free to visit.
Tips
Take a bus from Mizonokuchi or Kuji Station and get off at Shinhirase-bashi, a 2-minute walk away. Walking leisurely along the Nikaryo Canal is also a pleasant way to get there.
