Hyogihara (評議原)

Flow of the course

About this spot

This is a maple grove along the hiking trail around Shiroyama Lake, a mountaintop lake created by the Honzawa Dam. The autumn leaves are typically at their best in late November. The maples overhead turn shades of red and orange, and the path covered in fallen leaves becomes an enjoyable seasonal walking trail simply to stroll along. It is said that the warlords of Katakura Castle, Tsukui Castle, and Komatsu Castle held council here, a history preserved in the name. Walking trails are maintained around the lake, and there are also spots with open views.
