About this spot
This old Soto Zen temple was founded in 1655 and is a quiet autumn foliage spot in Sengokuhara. The best viewing period is usually from early to late November. The scenery of the Five Hundred Rakan statues scattered throughout the grounds set against the red maple leaves is unique to this temple, and searching for statues with different expressions, laughing faces, sleeping faces, as you walk keeps children engaged. In November, fog can also turn the nearby pampas grass field a reddish-brown, adding another autumn scene to enjoy.
