About this spot

A citywide illumination event held every Christmas Eve, in which about 40 buildings in the Minato Mirai 21 district light up their windows all at once. It is held only on December 24 each year; last year it ran from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM on December 24, 2025. Viewing is free. The 2026 schedule and hours have not yet been announced, so please check the official announcement before heading out. For viewing, Bankoku Bridge is recommended as the classic spot offering a straight-on view of the buildings and their reflection in the canal. It's one of Yokohama's premier night-view spots, drawing many photography enthusiasts.

Tips

Since this is a one-night-only event, the area around Bankoku Bridge gets crowded on the day. If using a tripod, please be considerate of those around you. If you're with children, hold hands and enjoy the view slowly from the bridge's walkway.

Best time to visit

Early evening, right after the lights come on. The buildings' silhouettes look most beautiful while the sky still holds a hint of blue.
