Flow of the course
About this spot
About a 10-minute walk from Kakio Station, this Jodo-shu (Pure Land Buddhist) temple was founded in 1621. Known as the 'Hydrangea Temple of Kakio,' it is also famous for its rakan (arhat) statues scattered throughout the grounds, whose humorous expressions, such as typing on a computer or taking photos, bring smiles to both children and adults. Admission is free.
Tips
There are stone steps and slopes, so wear comfortable walking shoes. The rakan statues are scattered around the grounds, so searching for them feels like a treasure hunt.
Best time to visit
Afternoon. Visiting while it's still bright is recommended
