Memorial Battleship Mikasa (記念艦三笠)
Flow of the course
About this spot
About a 15-minute walk from Yokosuka-Chuo Station, this park preserves the Mikasa, one of the world's three great memorial battleships. You can go aboard and tour the ship; admission is 600 yen for adults, 300 yen for high school students, and free for elementary and middle school students. From November through February, it's open 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (last admission 30 minutes before closing). Seeing the actual bridge and gun turrets up close is captivating for children and adults alike.
Tips
The ship is closed to visitors from December 28 to 31, so on New Year's Eve you can only view the exterior from the park, not go aboard. If you'd also like to tour the interior, we recommend visiting on a separate day.
Best time to visit
Early to late afternoon, while it's still light out
