About this spot

This is the main venue for 'Yokohama Illumination Nishiguchi' (ヨコハマイルミネーションニシグチ), the illumination that lights up the area around Yokohama Station's west exit. Centered on 'Yokohama Illumina Square' (ヨコハマイルミナスクエア) at the Central West Exit plaza, the light displays continue on to the South West Exit (Sotetsu Exit) (みなみ西口(相鉄口)) and the surrounding riverside area. Last year it ran from November 12, 2025 to February 14, 2026, with free admission. Being right by the station, it's easy to combine with shopping or a meal, and offers a satisfying view even in a short visit. The 2026-27 schedule and lighting times have not yet been announced, so please check official tourism information before heading out.

Tips

The station plaza gets crowded with pedestrians, so hold hands with small children while viewing the lights. After taking photos in the plaza, extending your walk to the riverside area lets you enjoy the lights at a more relaxed pace.

Best time to visit

Right after sunset. The time when the sky still holds a hint of blue is the most photogenic.
