Nanohanadai Observation Deck (菜の花台展望台)

Flow of the course

About this spot

This is a highland park area along the prefectural road leading from Hadano town to Yabitsu Pass (ヤビツ峠). Below you spread views of Hadano town and toward Sagami Bay, while overhead the night sky is far richer with stars than in the city. Parking is free at both Nanohanadai (23 spaces) and Yabitsu Pass (24 spaces), and restrooms are available, making it reassuring for family stargazing at night. Take your time enjoying the transition from dusk scenery to night view and then to a sky full of stars.

Tips

The pass road is a winding mountain road. It is reassuring to arrive before sunset and check your footing while it is still light. Nights get cold, so dress warmly. Stars are easier to see on nights with less moonlight.

Best time to visit

Around 18:30 to 20:30 after sunset. Stargazing is at its best once the sky has fully darkened
