About this spot

A satoyama countryside park remaining within the urban area of Fujisawa, open at all times with free admission (excluding the old farmhouse and gate). Making use of the valley terrain, the park spreads out with ponds, wetlands, and a nature trail, where you can encounter seasonal creatures and wildflowers. The thatched-roof Former Koike Residence (旧小池邸) and the Former Fukuhara Family Nagayamon Gate (旧福原家長屋門), relocated within the park, can be viewed year-round from 9:00 to 16:30 (closed Mondays, or the following day if a public holiday; closed December 29-January 3). You can see up close the layout of an old-style house, including the earthen floor, hearth, and veranda, and the sight of it standing against the green backdrop of the satoyama countryside feels just like a scene from an old folk tale. With parking and restrooms available, it's a park where families can spend a relaxed day.

Tips

Viewing of the old farmhouses is until 16:30, and they are closed on Mondays (or the following day if a public holiday). The nature trail has some ups and downs, so if walking with small children, the flat path around the pond is recommended.
