About this spot

A prefectural library standing in the cultural zone of Momijigaoka. Opening hours are 9:00-19:00 Tuesday through Friday, and 9:00-17:00 on weekends and holidays. Maekawa Kunio Hall, designed by Maekawa Kunio, a leading architect of Japanese modernist architecture, is striking for its exposed-block walls and large windows, making it worth a visit just to look at the building. Together with the Main Building, it has a rich collection of reference books and local materials on Kanagawa, and an afternoon spent with parent and child researching Ii Naosuke and the history of the opening of Yokohama's port, encountered in the morning, is an intellectual time unique to this course.
