Standing at the southern end of Harbor View Park, this museum specializes in modern Japanese literature. The exhibition room hosts literature-related exhibitions, and the permanent exhibition costs 310 yen for adults, 190 yen for those under 20 and students, 130 yen for those 65 and over, 100 yen for high school students, and is free for junior high school students and younger. Use of the reading room is free, letting you settle in with a book in a quiet space on the hilltop. Its location, easy to reach on foot straight from the port-town scenery, is another appeal, and spending time reading together as a family after viewing the exhibits should make books feel all the more familiar.

The exhibition room is open 9:30-17:00 (last entry 16:30), and the reading room is open 9:30-18:30 Tuesday to Friday and 9:30-17:00 on weekends and holidays.
