About this spot

A park partway up Mt. Matsuda (松田山), centered on Matsuda-yama Herb Garden (松田山ハーブガーデン), which is planted with more than 180 kinds of herbs. It also has facilities such as the Kodomo-no-Yakata children's hall, the Shizenkan nature hall, and the Furusato Railway mini train. The park offers sweeping views of Mount Fuji, Sagami Bay, and the Ashigara Plain (足柄平野), and the view is especially fine on clear days. Spread out a picnic on the lawn or the observation deck for a pleasant lunch high on the mountain.

Tips

Opening hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Mondays and Tuesdays (open if a public holiday falls on those days). Parking is paid (100 yen per hour, 500 yen maximum; rates change during events). It is a good idea to check the official website for the Furusato Railway's operating days and other ride schedules.
