Mount Sekiro (石老山)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A 694-meter mountain rising south of Lake Sagami (相模湖) and one of the Kanto Hyakumeizan (関東百名山), one of the 100 Famous Mountains of the Kanto Region. The official standard course from Sagamihara City covers 7.3 km and takes about 4 hours on foot. Beyond Kenkyo-ji Temple (顕鏡寺), the trail climbs a ridge through deep forest while passing huge boulders such as Byobu-iwa (屏風岩) and Happo-iwa (八方岩). The shaded path, where cedar groves block the sun, stays cool and pleasant even in September and October, when the warming climate keeps the heat going, and the summit offers a view toward the Tanzawa mountain range (丹沢). With its huge boulders and shaded path, this hike lets children experience a real sense of adventure.
