About this spot

The garden of a hotel standing on high ground in Motohakone by Lake Ashi, open to the public from 9:00 to 16:00 (last entry). During the Azalea and Rhododendron Fair (つつじ・しゃくなげフェア), typically held from late April to mid-May, the hillside is covered in blooming azaleas and rhododendrons, and garden admission is free during the fair. The main attraction of the garden is its view over Lake Ashi and the Hakone mountain range, and it makes for a relaxed lakeside walk outside the flower season as well. With lawns and garden paths spread throughout, it is easy to walk even with children, and perfect for a leisurely stroll in the soft afternoon light.
