About this spot
A memorial museum that opens to the public the Isshiki, Hayama home of Japanese-style painter Yamaguchi Hoshun. It is open 10:00-16:30 (last admission 16:00), closed Mondays (or the following day if Monday is a holiday), as well as on exhibition-changeover days, maintenance days, and during the New Year holidays. Admission is 600 yen for general visitors and free for high school students and younger; discounts of 100 yen each are also available for groups, visitors with disabilities, and affiliated-museum ticket holders. The garden as seen from the studio and residence windows has the quiet stillness of stepping into a painting, with seasonal plants carefully maintained. Being able to experience both the artworks and the place where they were created is the charm of this museum.
