About this spot

An observatory at the top of a hill in Kurihama Flower Park (くりはま花の国), known for its flowers in every season. The park is open 24 hours a day with no closed days, and admission is free (only the paid facilities are closed on Mondays and during the New Year holidays). Below you spreads the town and port of Kurihama, with Tokyo Bay beyond, and as the sun sets it becomes a night-view spot lit by city lights and the lights of passing ships. Climb up while it's still light and take your time enjoying the change from a fiery red sunset to the night view.

Tips

Parking is 630 yen per visit for a regular car. Parking Lot 1 is open until 17:00 and Parking Lot 2 until 20:30, so Parking Lot 2 is the safer choice if you plan to stay for the night view. The road to the summit is an uphill climb the whole way, and it gets dark on the way back down, so bring a flashlight and hold your child's hand while descending. It's windy and cold on top of the hill, so don't forget warm clothing.
