Yose Shrine (與瀬神社)
Flow of the course
About this spot
An old shrine long affectionately known as ‘Yose no Gongen-sama,’ it enshrines Yamato Takeru no Mikoto (日本武尊) and is known for warding off misfortune and blessing children's healthy growth. The stone-step approach, surrounded by trees that block the sunlight, is wrapped in cool air, and from the shrine grounds at the top you can look out over Lake Sagami (相模湖) through the torii gate. The grounds are open for worship at any time, and it's a classic spot also featured in the Sagamiko Tourist Association's ‘Burari Sagamiko’ guide.
Tips
The stone steps just before the main hall are quite steep, so take your time and use the handrail. Hold small children's hands and go one step at a time.
