About this spot

An observatory equipped with one of the largest Cassegrain reflecting telescopes in Kyushu, with a 65cm aperture. Built on land where the former Kihoku-cho was ranked No. 1 in Japan for four consecutive seasons in the Environment Agency's nationwide continuous starry-sky observation survey, it lets visitors see first-magnitude stars not only at night but also during the day.

Tips

Night-time hours apply only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays (closes at 18:00 on Wednesdays and Thursdays; closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Admission is 520 yen for high school students and above, 310 yen for elementary and junior high school students.
