A World Heritage Site and one of Kyotos foremost temples, known for the Kiyomizu Stage. Viewing hours are 6:00-18:00; admission is 500 yen for adults and 200 yen for elementary/junior high school students (revised April 2024, cash only).
Tips
From Kiyomizu-dera, take a car or taxi along the Higashiyama Driveway toward Shogunzuka and Kwasan Observatory.
Best time to visit
Early afternoon, once the surrounding crowds have thinned out
