About this spot

Kyoto Sangyo University's Kamiyama Observatory. You can observe with the Araki Telescope (1.3m aperture, the largest at any private university in Japan), with staff explanations included. In winter (October to December), sessions are held on Saturdays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM (reception 5:30 to 7:30 PM). Admission is free, but advance reservation is required (apply via the reservation form on the event calendar). Sessions are suspended during the rainy season, the coldest part of winter (January to mid-March), university-wide closure days, and public holidays.

Tips

Reserve in advance via the official event calendar. Junior high school students and younger must be accompanied by a guardian. Don't forget to dress warmly.
