About this spot

A park developed by Ibara City on land on loan from the national government. Located at the 512m summit of Mt. Okura-Ryuo, it offers an appealing 360-degree panorama stretching from the Seto Inland Sea to Mt. Daisen. Equipped with a 60cm telescope, stargazing sessions led by Bisei Observatory staff are held about once a month.

Tips

Stargazing sessions are free but require reservations — please apply through the Bisei Observatory (0866-87-4222). Normally only the parking lot is open and there are no restrooms, so be sure to visit only on a scheduled stargazing session date.
