阿賀町にある磐越西線の駅で、町の玄関口です。新潟と会津若松を結ぶ路線の途中にあり、阿賀野川に沿って山あいを走る車窓が知られています。駅から津川の中心部までは少し距離がありますが、その道すがらにも川湊として栄えたころの町並みの名残が残っています。駅前で観光の案内を確認し、飲み物などを整えてから歩き出すとよいでしょう。
