Located in Tsugawa, Aga, this facility introduces the area's long-held legend of fox-fire. In Tsugawa, it's said that fox-fire has long appeared on Mount Kirin, and each year the Fox Wedding Procession is held in its honor. Inside, dolls and video recreate the procession, letting visitors peek into a fantastical world of a bride in white ceremonial kimono accompanied by fox-masked attendants. There's also a corner where kids can try fox makeup, delighting them with white and red lines painted on their faces. The facility also has exhibits on the history of Tsugawa as a thriving post town, making it a great spot to learn about the town in a short time.

Tips

The facility has set closing days, so check opening days before visiting. The fox-makeup experience has a fee and may only be offered on certain days. The pool is about a 5-minute drive away. Parking is free.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Right after opening is the least crowded time to look around at leisure.
