2026 Goshogawara Tachi Neputa Festival: Full-Day Course
This is a one-day course centered on the opening day of the 'Goshogawara Tachi Neputa Festival' (Aug. 4-8, 2026), where giant floats about 23 meters tall parade through the city at night. During the day, start at Tachi Neputa no Yakata (立佞武多の館), where you can see the actual floats up close, then enjoy Tsugaru's classic scenery at Shayokan (斜陽館), the birthplace of novelist Osamu Dazai, and Ashino Park (芦野公園), known for its cherry blossoms and the Tsugaru Railway. In the evening, have an early dinner near Goshogawara Station (五所川原駅), then head to the city center. At 7:00 PM, the sight of the giant illuminated Tachi Neputa floats parading between buildings is a powerful scene symbolizing summer in Tsugaru. With a literary and nature walk during the day and a spectacular parade of giant floats at night, you can experience the full appeal of Goshogawara in a single day.
