Next stop: Explore a wave-carved cave with a candle-shaped lantern in handAbout this spot
A botanical garden spread across the site of a Meiji-era English merchant Cocking's garden. The observation lighthouse Sea Candle rising within the grounds can be ascended for a full 360-degree panorama stretching from Sagami Bay to Mount Fuji, and on clear days even the Izu Peninsula. The garden, painted with seasonal flowers, is a pleasant place even just to stroll through leisurely.
Tips
The observation deck can be reached by elevator, so it's safe for families with small children. After exiting the garden, we recommend having a whitebait bowl lunch at Goiwaya-dori before heading to the cave.
Best time to visit
Plan for 1 hour; the observation deck typically has shorter wait times in the morning
