Hakone Open-Air Museum (彫刻の森美術館)

Flow of the course

About this spot

Japan's first open-air museum, with approximately 120 sculptures set in vast gardens overlooking the Hakone mountains. It features abundant interactive artworks such as the 'Net Forest' where children can enter and play, and a stained-glass tower, allowing visitors to experience art while running around freely. The museum also has a natural spring-fed foot bath in the garden where tired feet can be refreshed—a wonderful point for families.

Tips

The grounds have paved paths suitable for strollers. For 'Net Forest,' it's convenient to wear slip-on shoes as they must be removed for play. Don't forget a towel for the foot bath.

Best time to visit

Allow 2 hours; the morning right after opening is least crowded
