About this spot
About an 8-minute ride through the sky by gondola from Sounzan Station to Owakudani. The moment you cross the ridge, the steaming volcanic landscape of Owakudani suddenly opens up right below you, one of Hakone's most stunning views. On clear days you can even see Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi, and the whole family is sure to end up pressed against the windows.
Tips
The highlight steam vents come into view straight ahead and directly below as you head toward Owakudani. Gondolas arrive one after another about every minute, so even with a stroller you can board without rushing.
Best time to visit
About 8 minutes on board; the air is clearer in the morning, making Mount Fuji easier to see.
