Tour the Colossal 156-Meter Dam via Cable Incline
About this spot
A gravity-style concrete dam standing 156 meters high, the largest in the greater Tokyo area. The view looking down from the top of the dam wall is awe-inspiring, and on touristic water release days, you can experience up close the dramatic waterfall created as vast amounts of water pour down all at once. The popular experience of ascending the dam wall via incline (resembling a cable car) from Aikawa Park side thrills children.
Tips
The incline allows boarding with a stroller. Check the official site in advance for touristic water release dates. Standing near the front may result in water spray, so bringing a light jacket is reassuring.
Best time to visit
Allow 1 hour; arriving 15 minutes before the start on water release days is recommended
