Leisurely Stroll Around a Circulating-Style Garden & Take a Rest

About this spot

A Japanese stroll garden created as a villa by Takei Tanji-o, who contributed to Kumagaya's development from the late Edo through Meiji periods. Centered on 'Tama-no-Ike' (Jewel Pond) fed by spring water, seasonal trees and sukiya-style architecture create a serene landscape. Free admission and so peaceful you forget you're in the city—a hidden gem of Kumagaya strolls.

Tips

Within walking distance of Kumagaya Station, but parking is limited. The garden paths are gravel, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Autumn foliage season is especially beautiful and recommended for photography.

Best time to visit

30–60 minutes. Weekday afternoons are quieter with fewer visitors.
