A gleaming white lighthouse standing on the easternmost cape of the Kanto region, it has been watching over ships since the Meiji era and remains an active lighthouse today. Climbing the 99 spiral steps takes you to a grand panorama overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The attached resource exhibition hall displays an actual giant lens, thrilling children.
Tips
The stairs are steep and narrow, so carrying small children in a carrier is recommended. Leave strollers at the entrance. Strong winds on the cape can blow away hats, so be careful.
Best time to visit
Takes about 45 minutes. Morning hours offer the best light for photography.
