Flow of the course

About this spot

A scenic area of dramatic cliffs and inlets created by rias-style coastline, planned as a villa resort in the Taisho period and beloved by literary figures. The approximately one-hour hiking course features hand-carved tunnels and scenic viewpoints like Tewakame-daira, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. A quiet cape walk with only the sound of waves and birdsong is perfect for a couple's getaway.

Tips

The trail has ups and downs and hand-carved tunnels, so sneakers are essential. Bring water and walk carefully through the dark tunnel sections.

Best time to visit

Allow about 1 hour. Late afternoon when the sun is softer is most comfortable for walking.
