Tidal Pool Exploration and Shell Collecting on a Walkable Uninhabited Island

About this spot

An uninhabited island with a circumference of about 1 km connected to the mainland by a sand spit. As a walkable island, it is rare throughout Japan, and it is a natural treasure trove where you can enjoy pristine transparent sea, primeval forest, and even small cave exploration. As you leisurely walk along the shoreline searching for shells and sea glass, you and your companion will naturally grow closer.

Tips

There are no restrooms or shops on the island except near the entrance. Bring your own drinks. Sneakers are recommended as you'll be walking on sandy beaches. The parking lot gets crowded during summer vacation. Best visited at low tide when walking is easiest.

Best time to visit

Allow about 80 minutes. Low tide makes walking easier.
