Photo opportunity at the cinnabar-red double arched bridge, then pay respects at Shutsuse Kannon

About this spot

The cinnabar-red double arched bridge spanning the Yoro River creates one of the valley's most picturesque scenes. Cross the bridge and climb the stone steps to reach Ryukokuji Temple, known as "Shutsuse Kannon" (the Kannon of Success). Legend has it that Minamoto no Yoritomo prayed here for his comeback, making it a beloved spot for prayers for good fortune and advancement.

Tips

About 30 minutes' walk from the station; the route includes some road walking, so wear comfortable shoes. The classic shot is taken from atop the bridge, looking down at the river surface.

Best time to visit

Plan about 30 minutes. Expect photography queues on autumn foliage weekends
