About this spot

A rare museum specializing in earth science housed within the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. Numerous samples of rocks, minerals, and fossils are on display, and the fluorescent mineral section in the dark room is a favorite with children. Despite free admission, the museum is surprisingly comprehensive and allows visitors to learn about Earth's formation in an enjoyable way.

Tips

Note that the museum is closed on Mondays. The interior is easy to navigate with a stroller, and it's just a few minutes' drive from the Space Center, making it easy to visit both.

Best time to visit

Allow 60 minutes. Early afternoon offers leisurely viewing.
