About this spot
A 120-meter-tall, 73-meter-wide waterfall cascading over an escarpment in four tiers, one of Japan's three most celebrated falls. The moment you emerge from the viewing tunnel, the tremendous force of the great cascade and water spray right before your eyes will excite children. The second observation platform, reached by elevator, offers a panoramic view of the entire waterfall.
Tips
The viewing tunnel has few steps and is accessible with a baby stroller. Taking the elevator up to the upper observation platform gives a full view of the four-tiered falls and is recommended for family photos.
Best time to visit
1 to 1.5 hours required. During autumn foliage season, midday brings long lines; morning is your best bet.
