Compactly Learn the History of Tsuchiura Domain and Lake Kasumigaura

About this spot

A history museum adjacent to Kameijiro Park. Through exhibits of swords from the Tsuchiya family of Tsuchiura Domain, castle-town documents, and displays of sail-fishing boats on Lake Kasumigaura, you can learn about the relationship between this town and the lake. Your admission ticket also grants entry to the East Turret within the park, and from the upper floors, you can overlook the castle ruins.

Tips

The admission fee is a reasonable 100 yen or so for adults, and your ticket includes entry to the East Turret—quite a bargain. The museum interior is cool, making it perfect for a short rest before your afternoon ride.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes required. The museum is often closed on Mondays, so check ahead.
