Japan's first museum dedicated exclusively to 'seal carving' (tenjitsu), the stamps used in calligraphy and painting. The building, housed in a stone storehouse built during the Taisho era, is a registered cultural property and offers a refined world of seals in a cool, atmospheric setting. Children who love characters may become interested in creating their own personal seal stamps.

Tips

The exhibits are compact and sized so children won't get bored. The surrounding area features scattered storehouses with an atmospheric townscape, making it ideal for post-visit street photography.

Best time to visit

Plan for around 30 minutes. Midday visits are relatively unhurried.
