About this spot

One of Japan's largest footbath facilities, centered on a 60m-long corridor-style footbath. Soak your feet in Shiobara's hot-spring water while relaxing and taking in the central mirror pond and garden. At Insendo you can even try drinking the hot-spring water. It's a well-earned treat in the latter half of the trip, easing feet tired from walking to the waterfalls.

Tips

Along the footbath corridor, the water temperature and the texture of the stones underfoot change from spot to spot, so just walking feels like a foot massage. It's reassuring to bring your own towel. Resting on a bench while your feet dry off is pleasant too.

Best time to visit

Allow 45 minutes to 1 hour. It gets a bit busy with day-trippers in the afternoon.
