A free-admission facility that preserves and displays the Class 9600 steam locomotive, nicknamed Kyuroku, built in the Taisho era. There are cars you can climb into the driver's cab as well as old-style passenger cars, making it a dream space for train-loving kids. On certain days there are demonstrations where the locomotive is moved slowly using compressed air, and hearing the whistle up close is truly powerful.
Tips
Admission is free. The SL riding experience is available only on certain paid days, so check the schedule on the official website. The whistle is quite loud, so it's reassuring for young children to watch from a bit of a distance.
Best time to visit
Allow 1 hour. On demonstration days, the morning is the best time to visit.
