View the authentic Type 9600 steam locomotive and passenger cars
About this spot
A free admission facility preserving and displaying the Type 9600 steam locomotive "Kuro-Roku" built in the Taisho era. Visitors can climb into the driver's cabin and see vintage passenger cars—a dreamlike space for train enthusiasts. On demonstration days, you can watch the SL move slowly using compressed air, and the close-up sound of the whistle is impressive.
Tips
Admission is free. SL ride experiences are held on specific days and require a fee, so check the official website for the schedule. The whistle is quite loud, so it's reassuring for small children to watch from a slight distance.
Best time to visit
Allow 1 hour. Days with demonstrations are best visited in the morning.
