A rare scenic spot nationwide where you can view the Tateyama mountain range, over 3,000 meters high, across Toyama Bay. It is said that Otomo Yakamochi, a poet of the Man'yoshu anthology, composed poems about the scenery of this location. The composition of Female Rock floating offshore, the sea, and overlapping mountain ridges is a favorite among photography enthusiasts. On clear days with crisp air, snow-capped mountains appear to float above the sea, creating a fantastical landscape. A simple stroll along the sandy beach is therapeutic—the perfect coastal setting for a date.
Tips
The Tateyama mountain range is most clearly visible on clear days with crisp air. Since you'll be walking on sandy beaches, wear shoes that can get dirty. Morning to midday is ideal for photography to avoid backlighting. Using the parking lot at Amaharashi Michi no Eki is convenient.
Best time to visit
Plan for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. A clear morning with crisp air offers the best chance for spectacular views.
