Enjoy an early morning bath at a historic public bathhouse that recreates the bathing experience of the Meiji era

About this spot

A public bathhouse located at Yunomagawara in the heart of the hot spring town, faithfully reconstructing the historic Soyu Bathhouse of the Meiji era. The bathing chamber walls are decorated with Kutani ware tiles, and stained glass filters light to cast shimmering colors across the water's surface, meticulously recreating the design details of that bygone era. The signature feature is the opportunity to experience the traditional "yuami" bathing style—no washing stations, just a splash of water and immersion—just as in centuries past. From the relaxation area on the second floor, you can look out over the townscape of Yunomagawara and savor the lingering tranquility after your bath.

Tips

This is an old-fashioned bathing style where soap and shampoo are not used, so those who prefer a thorough wash may want to use the adjacent modern public bath instead. It's wise to bring your own towel. The bathhouse is just a short walk from the hot spring town's shared parking lot. The early morning hours are less crowded, allowing you to soak in peaceful tranquility.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Early morning hours have fewer visitors, making it ideal for enjoying the traditional bath experience at a leisurely pace.
